This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses Books Machine, including assistants and integrations acting with your keys.

What is not allowed

  • Breaking the law, or helping someone else break it.
  • Fraud: invoices for goods or services that were never provided, impersonating another business, or collecting payment under false pretenses.
  • Phishing, or using Books Machine documents, portals or emails to deceive people into revealing credentials or paying the wrong party.
  • Laundering money, evading sanctions, or doing business on behalf of anyone subject to US sanctions.
  • Uploading malware, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Storing health, biometric or other special category data that your bookkeeping does not require.
  • Probing, scanning or testing the Service's security without following the rules below, or attempting to access another customer's data.
  • Circumventing plan limits, rate limits or suspensions, or creating accounts in bulk.
  • Scraping the Service, or using it to build a competing product.
  • Reselling or sublicensing access to the Service, except as a bookkeeper or firm serving your own clients.
  • Interfering with the Service's operation or other customers' use of it.

Sending email

Send invoices, quotes, reminders and receipts only to people you do business with. Do not use Books Machine to send marketing or unsolicited mail. Follow the email laws that apply to you, including honest sender details and subject lines. We track bounces and complaints and may pause sending from a workspace whose mail harms deliverability for everyone.

Security research

We welcome reports from people who find a vulnerability. Email hello@booksmachine.com with details, test only against accounts you own, do not access or modify other people's data, do not degrade the Service, and give us reasonable time to fix the issue before disclosing it. We will not pursue legal action against good-faith research that follows these rules.

Enforcement

If you break this policy we may remove content, pause features such as sending, suspend a workspace or account, or end the agreement, depending on severity. Where practical we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. To report abuse by a Books Machine user, email legal@booksmachine.com.
